Let's see how the 2015 Chevrolet Impala does against the Ford Taurus.
ENGINE AND PERFORMANCE
A sleek, contoured large sedan that was introduced way back in 1958 and re-emerged again in its 10th-generation form in 2014, and we're glad it did! Powered by two available engines, a 2.5-liter ECOTEC 4-cylinder engine with variable valve timing (VVT) and 196 hp, or a 3.6-liter V6 with VVT and a massive 305 horses of power, you'll get to where you're going quickly in this potent machine. Standard 6-speed automatic transmission, coupled with FWD, will make your trip in the 2015 Impala even more enjoyable. Macpherson struts and an electronic stability control system add safety and smoothness to your ride. The Ford Taurus has three engines -- a standard 3.5L V6 with 288hp, a 3.5L Turbocharged EcoBoost (for AWD) with 365hp, and a 2.0L EcoBoost Inline-4 with 240hp. Considering the V6 standard engines in both the Impala and the Taurus, the Impala's 305 horses and 264 pound-feet of torque @5200 rpm is more powerful than the Taurus 288hp and 254 pound-feet of torque @ 4000 rpm.
CHEVY IMPALA AVAILABLE TRIMS VS FORD TAURUS AVAILABLE TRIMS
Five models are available for the 2015 Chevrolet Impala -- LS, 1LT, 2LT, 1LTZ, 2LTZ. Even the base LS model comes loaded, as standard features include 18-inch steel wheels, daytime running lights, power windows and door locks, an 8-way power adjustable driver's seat, remote keyless entry, a 4.2-inch color audio display with Bluetooth, and a USB port. The Ford Taurus only comes in 4 models and doesn't include daytime running lights as a standard option, and standard wheels are a smaller 17-inches.
DIMENSIONS AND INTERIOR COMFORT
Traveling in comfort for the driver and passengers are of utmost importance, especially on long trips, and the 2015 Chevrolet Impala offers more legroom in both the front and rear seats. You have a full 45.8 inches of front leg room for both driver and passenger while rear passengers can stretch out to 39.8 inches maximum. By contrast, the Ford Taurus provides a more cramped 44.2 inches of front leg room and lops off almost 2 inches of comfort for rear passengers with only 38.1 inches of leg room.
