Recommended Oil Type for the Chevrolet Equinox

If you drive a Chevrolet Equinox in Stuart, FL, ensuring your engine remains in peak condition is essential for maintaining performance, efficiency, and longevity. One of the most crucial maintenance tasks is selecting the right engine oil. To keep your Equinox running smoothly, Wallace Chevrolet is here to provide expert guidance on the best oil type for your vehicle. more What Is the Recommended Oil Type for the Chevrolet Equinox? Chevrolet recommends using SAE 5W-30 full synthetic oil for most Chevrolet Equinox models. However, depending on the engine type and model year, the specific oil requirements may vary. For newer models, full synthetic oil is preferred due to its superior lubrication, engine protection, and resistance to high temperatures. Here’s a breakdown of oil recommendations for different Chevrolet Equinox engine configurations: 2.0L Turbocharged Engine: SAE 5W-30 full synthetic oil 1.5L Turbocharged Engine: SAE 0W-20 full synthetic oil (for some model years) To determine the exact oil specification for your model, consult your owner’s manual or speak with a certified service technician at Wallace Chevrolet in Stuart, FL. Why Is Full Synthetic Oil Recommended for the Chevrolet Equinox? Full synthetic oil offers several advantages over conventional and synthetic blend oils, making it the top choice for modern vehicles like the Chevrolet Equinox. Here’s why it’s recommended: Enhanced Engine Protection: Full synthetic oil reduces engine wear and protects vital components from friction and heat. Improved Fuel Efficiency: Less friction in the engine allows for smoother operation, which can result in better gas mileage. Better Performance in Extreme Temperatures: Full synthetic oil maintains its viscosity, even in hot Florida weather, ensuring consistent engine lubrication. Longer Oil Change Intervals: Synthetic oil typically lasts longer than conventional oil, meaning fewer oil changes are required. How Often Should You Change the Oil in Your Chevrolet Equinox? For most Chevrolet Equinox models, it’s recommended to change the oil every 7,500 to 10,000 miles when using full synthetic oil. However, factors like driving conditions, weather, and driving habits can influence this interval. If you frequently drive in harsh conditions—like stop-and-go traffic, extreme heat, or heavy towing—it’s wise to check your oil more frequently. The Oil Life Monitoring System in your Equinox will alert you when it’s time for an oil change, so be sure to pay attention to dashboard notifications. For customized advice and quick, professional service, visit Wallace Chevrolet’s service center in Stuart, FL. Our technicians will ensure your oil change is done right the first time. How to Check Your Oil Level in a Chevrolet Equinox Regularly checking your oil level can prevent engine damage and help you stay ahead of potential issues. Here’s a step-by-step guide: Park on a Level Surface: Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes for the oil to settle. Locate the Dipstick: Open the hood and locate the yellow or orange-handled dipstick. Pull the Dipstick Out: Wipe it clean with a cloth or paper towel. Reinsert and Remove: Insert the dipstick back in, then pull it out again to check the oil level. Check the Level and Color: The oil should fall within the "full" and "low" markers. If the oil is dark or gritty, it may be time for an oil change. If you’re unsure how to check your oil, the service team at Wallace Chevrolet is happy to assist. Signs It’s Time for an Oil Change Not sure if it’s time for an oil change? Here are some signs to watch for: Dashboard Oil Light: The "Change Oil Soon" light on your dashboard is a clear indicator. Noisy Engine: If you hear knocking or louder-than-normal engine noise, it’s a sign your oil is low or degraded. Dark, Dirty Oil: Clean oil is amber in color. If it’s dark or gritty, it’s time for a change. Excess Exhaust Smoke: If you’re seeing more smoke than usual, it could be related to oil issues. 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV & EV Tax Credit

The New EV Tax Credit Has Many Requirements

There has been a lot of confusion about 2023’s new federal EV tax credit law.  First of all, when it comes to the tax code, many of us find it beyond confusing.  That is why a lot of people rely on tax professionals to help them prepare their annual tax returns.  Well the new EV tax credit won’t disappoint you, it is extremely confusing. more So What Exactly Is The Electric Vehicle Tax Credit? The electric vehicle tax credit is a nonrefundable tax credit. It is offered to taxpayers who purchase a qualifying new electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid vehicle. It can also be used on qualifying used electric vehicles.  A nonrefundable tax credit will lower your tax liability by the credit amount. However, it can only be used to offset taxes owed. If you do not owe taxes and are receiving a refund, you can not use the tax credit.  Taxpayers can only claim one credit per vehicle. The new vehicle EV tax credit is worth up to a total of $7,500. It consists of a $3,750 tax credit for the battery requirement and a $3,750 tax credit for the critical minerals requirement. The new electric vehicle must meet several other qualifications in order to qualify the full EV tax credit. You may also qualify for up to $4,000 tax credit on qualifying used electric vehicles. There is a maximum limit of 30% of the sales price of a used EV. How Will I Know If I Qualify For The Tax Credit? First, the vehicle you are purchasing must qualify for the tax credit.  The vehicle must meet several criteria such as MSRP, final assembly requirements, and battery & critical minerals requirements.  The IRS urges taxpayers to use its tool for the most up to date information on the tax credit and vehicle requirements.  You can now consult the FuelEconomy.gov website for the latest information. The purchaser of the electric vehicle must also qualify for the tax credit.  The new law sets limits on the modified adjusted gross income for taxpayers in order to qualify for the tax credit.  If both the vehicle and the taxpayer meet the requirements for the tax credit, you must file IRS Form 8936 with your tax return to claim the EV tax credit.
